Colin and the JEM Tennis team feel passionate about providing sporting opportunities to all and strive to be the most inclusive tennis club around. Below are some of the many things we do in the community, we run these alongside our normal coaching programme and couldn't be happier to communicate some of the wonderful achievements and people we have the pleasure of working with.

Matt Johnstone

We have also worked closely with a long term member of JEM Tennis (15 years +) Mat Johnstone who is an exceptional person as well as a stand out player. Mat had an LTA performance trial earlier in the year, after putting in hours or hard work, perseverance and effort on court with us at JEM, we are elated to announce he came runner up in singles and won the men's doubles at the Leeds wheelchair tennis tournament in October 2022.

Harvey Spanner

JEM Tennis are also extremely proud of one of our minors, Harvey Spanner. Harvey is a heart transplant patient, he had his transplant when he was a baby and has been with JEM since he was of school age. Harvey puts in hours playing alongside some of our advanced player to help him gain confidence and skill. He played tennis in the recent transplant games in Leeds in August 2022 and won gold. We are undoubtedly overjoyed with his success! He is set to carry out his work experience with us later in the year to aid his sporting education at college. We would like to take this opportunity to wish him the best of luck.

Friday Night Project run by Hedge End Town Council

For the past few years JEM Tennis has provided a free of charge session during non-term times for Friday Night Project who are based in Hedge End. "The project is for young people with mild/moderate physical/learning difficulties, Autistic Spectrum conditions or confidence issues." JEM Tennis are overjoyed to be a part of this community based service and young people's life’s. We have had the pleasure of working with these 10-24 year olds and have seen them grow in confidence as we have shown them the fundamentals of ABCs (agility, balance and co-ordination) in sport. We understand how to adapt game play for children and young adults with learning difficulties and have incorporated sensory circuits into our sessions.
